Are you planning a trip to Jamaica this year? If youre a budget conscious traveler like myself, you might always looking for the best deal for your money. Let me explain how I went about finding a good price for my flights to Jamaica and how I ended up landing a bargain for them, no pun intended.

First, I used a website called, Kayak. It is an airfare comparison site that aggregates the various airfare travel sites on the Internet into one consolidated view. This website is useful because it helps you save a lot of time, instead of visiting each individual airfare travel site you can just go to Kayak and enter in your travel information (such as destination, travel dates, number of passengers) and Kayak will query the Internet and produce all the information you need to plan your trip. I suggest using Kayak as your starting base so you have a reference point when you call a travel agent.

Next, contact your local travel agent and find out the price quote that he or she gives you. They have access to an airlines reservation system, so they do offer the benefit of checking if a particular seat is available and helping getting you the desired seat you want. But, keep in remind that they need to make a profit too, so their price quote will include a percentage of commission for themselves.

Finally, the best way I like to get cheap tickets is to go to the Air Jamaica website. I suggest skipping the generic travel sites like Travelocity and Orbitz, and your travel agent, because they have to tack on additional expenses such as affiliate fees and commissions. Instead, go directly to the airline and contact them yourself, either through their website or calling them on the telephone. They are cheaper because you are going through them directly and cutting out the middleman, so it saves them costs and expenses from paying for the travel agent or the online travel sites.

Using this 3-pronged approach is an effective way since you have at least 3 comparisons to make a better decision and this was how I was able to get a great deal for my vacation to Jamaica.
